Types of Breast List Surgery at South Florida Breast
There are many different types of breast lift surgery at our Miami, FL and Fort Lauderdale, FL cosmetic surgery centers. Our surgeons are committed to offering the best breast lift procedures tailored to your needs and desired result. Though some scarring is an inevitable result with any breast lift surgery, our doctors, in consultation with you, will determine the breast lift procedure that will create the most effective and beautiful breast reshaping with the least amount of scarring. Here are some of the options we use:
The Benelli Lift
The Benelli Lift is the least invasive surgery of these three surgeries. The Benelli breast lift can be performed for women with smaller breasts and less than severe drooping. This procedure needs fewer incisions to achieve significant lift, which results in less scarring.
Excess skin tissue is removed in a doughnut shape from around the areola. Sometimes more tissue is taken from the top area of the areola to provide for additional lift. The areola and nipple are lifted and residual skin tissue is then sutured to the areola. As a result, the Benelli procedure localizes subsequent scar tissue.
The Benelli Lift may cause the skin around the areola to wrinkle immediately following the procedure. This is normal and results from the circumference of the residual skin tissue being slightly larger than the circumference of the outer rim of the areola. Over time (approximately a few months) the skin will relax and adapt to the new size and shape.
The Lollipop Lift
The Lollipop Lift requires larger incisions than the Benelli Lift but is not as invasive as a full mastopexy. The Lollipop breast lift can be performed for women with small breasts and severe drooping or for women with larger breasts and less than severe drooping.
This procedure initially uses the same incision around the areola as the Benelli Lift with the addition of a vertical incision from the areola to the breast crease to remove a ribbon of skin and excess tissue. Along with the lifting and suturing of the areola, the two sides of the vertical incision are sutured together.
The vertical incision creates more visible scarring with the Lollipop Lift than with the Benelli Lift, but causes less scarring than a Full Pattern Mastopexy.
Full Pattern Mastopexy
Full Pattern Mastopexy is the most common breast lift surgery, requires the most incisions, and provides the maximum amount of lift. A full mastopexy is most beneficial for women with large breasts and severe sagging.
The incisions for this surgery include a key-hole shape around the areola and an anchor shape that descends vertically to the crease of the breast and from right to left along the crease. The excess skin is removed, the areola and nipple are repositioned, and the remaining skin tissue is sutured together vertically and along the lower crease of the breast.
Though there is greater scarring, Full Pattern Mastopexy offers the most dramatic reshaping results and the highest potential for a beautiful, sexy complete body shape, and scars are usually left in places that will be hidden by bras and bathing suits. Nipple placement and breast symmetry can also be problematic with full pattern Mastopexy.
The results of each breast lift vary and are determined by weight gain, pregnancy and heredity. The results of lifts are not permanent and need to be adjusted over time.
