This 40 year old patient came to the South Florida Center for Cosmetic Surgery seeking breast reduction and breast lift surgery in Miami, Florida. She suffered from back, neck, and shoulder pain caused by her heavy, pendulous breasts. During her consultation, we decided that a lift alone would not reduce the volume and weight of her breasts enough to alleviate her symptoms. The shoulder, back, and neck pain is caused by the heavy, excessive breast tissue, which also contributes to the sagging of the breasts. She opted for a full breast reduction and breast lift in Miami. We utilized an anchor-shaped incision, which is the most commonly used incision when doing a larger-volume reduction and lift. This incision encircles the areola, descends in a straight line, then curves along the underside of the breast to form the shape of an anchor. We removed the excess breast tissue, which reduces the weight and volume of the breast. Then we removed the excess skin, which results in a lifting and tightening of the breast. Breast reduction has one of the highest satisfaction rates of all plastic surgery procedures, and this patient is no exception. Her posture has improved significantly since her surgery, and her entire midsection looks trimmer without the large, heavy breasts that used to cover it.
